OWNERSHIP OPPORTUNITIES
Thoroughbred Racing Nation offers ownership opportunities in horses at all stages of their career, weanlings who are just starting out, yearlings with promising futures, 2 year olds preparing for their racing debut, horses currently racing, and broodmares who produce the runners of tomorrow.
Each stage of a horse's career offers different opportunities for enjoyment as well as different levels of risk and potential reward.
Our horses are offered individually for ownership and enjoyment. Each horse is divided into 100 ownership units and you decide which horses you want to own and the level of ownership you have, anywhere from 1% up to 20%. People just starting out in the business will often start with a 1% or 2% interest in one or several horses and increase their level of ownership as their goals become clearer and they gain experience.
Each horse is treated as a separate ownership entity with it’s own accounting and tax id.
All of the proceeds from purses, claiming or sale income, or in the case of broodmares from the sale of their foals and breeders incentives earned by their foals are distributed to co-owners in accordance with their percentage of ownership in each horse.
Likewise, all of the expenses for care, upkeep, and training of horses is shared by each horse’s co-owners in accordance with their percentage of ownership in each horse.
